Yesterday I was happy to come home to a treat that Becky bought me… NewsRadio season 3. I’m a bit of a NewsRadio geek and have waited years for them to finally release the show to DVD. I think it’s one of the funniest, well-written comedies (sometimes even moreso than Seinfeld, in my opinion) ever to air. I’m not the only one, of course. But check out this guy’s 131-page “thesis” about the art of comedy as portrayed in NewsRadio. We watched a few episodes last night… so many quoteable episodes. But I’ll try to refrain…
Today marks the beginning of a new 3-month term in our apartment. We’re hoping to move a little further southeast to be closer to our jobs. Sure, there’s the option of simply moving to Parker (kind of the Draper of Denver), which Becky wouldn’t mind doing, but I think it’s a little far from our friends and church. It’s likely out of our price range as well.
Today, of course, marks the first day of Lent. There were several options of me on what to give up. Giving up coffee would have been a good choice, as our uber cool machine is still in the shop (and could likely stay there for the next forty days), but I fear that without coffee, I will simply lose all creativity and my work will only be adequate. I also thought about giving up blogging, but it appears that someone has already beaten me to that. I’m actually going back to my soda fast from two years ago. Becky may join me which would make it easier as we won’t tempt each other by drinking Dr. Pepper at dinner.
Well, I’m off to astonish the world with my ade-quata-quasity (sorry, I couldn’t resist).
dude, the links in this post aren’t working for me. weird.
I agree- “New Radio” is truly one of the greateset comedy TV shows of all time. Bill, Matthew, the big boss guy, Dave… they were all hilarious. Now that I know it is on DVD I’ll have to rent it sometime.
I loved News Radio. I cried when Phil Hartman died, seriously.
P.S. – Why isn’t it in syndication?? Why is Full House on 27 times a day but no News Radio?
Forget syndication… season sets for NewsRadio aren’t very expensive (at most, $30 each). If you buy them, you can enjoy the brilliance over and over again…
